LinkedIn is a networking website that is known as a place for business people to upload their information and share events with other businesses. Simply put, it is a business to business social networking site and it is used by millions of people from around the world.
At first glance, it may not seem like LinkedIn can be use for Internet marketing purposes, but it can and marketers use it every day for precisely that purpose. Even though LinkedIn does not have a whole deal of social networking elements to it, there are a few. For example, each member has their "connections" and members can see how far away they are geographically from their connections and the connections of their connections. Knowing how close or how far a business contact is away from a user can help the user decide if they want to pursue jobs or opportunities that their connections list.
Getting more into the Internet marketing opportunities of LinkedIn, this popular service has very little information out there about it. Many marketing and social networking blogs focus heavily on using Facebook and Twitter in Internet marketing campaigns in regards to product or application development. However, there is also an abundance of information and tips on LinkedIn that can be marketed as well, such as:
